It is better to get the seal of every country in your passport than to get a tattoo all over your body. After traveling around Sri Lanka, which has a rich history, don’t step outside the ring of sweat. Instead of the surroundings, work place, city, and chicken curry that you see every day at home, experiencing many things like unfamiliar food, places, culture, climate, etc. of another country is sure to give me the opportunity to enjoy life without feeling monotonous.

However, other than word-of-mouth trips within Sri Lanka, it can be a bit more challenging than the challenges that come with excursions to distant regions or things on the other side of the pond if you are not prepared.

No matter what reason you go to a foreign country for work or a trip, if you follow these instructions, the trip will not be a bitter experience for you.

1. Health and Safety

At this time, you have to take medicines prescribed for common diseases such as high blood pressure, cholesterol etc. and if you are a person with any medical condition, adding the necessary amounts to your luggage until the end of the trip and climate changes in foreign countries, food consumption practices, etc. will affect your health. It is important to ask a doctor about how it can be affected.

2. Be aware of the terms and conditions of the insurance company

If you already have a life insurance policy, it is wise to inquire with the relevant institution about whether it provides coverage for things that may happen in another country. Because, even though everyone is waiting to approach and provide insurance with love, only a handful of people give the conditions properly.

If we don’t like to read, we sign the one that is available, so when we face a problem and nothing comes, we understand that reading completes the person. So find out what insurance covers you for what might happen abroad and how to get it.

3. Keep a copy of the passport

The passport is the only thing that confirms our identity in a foreign country. So it doesn’t matter if you are gone, don’t lose your passport. If your passport is lost in the event of luggage theft, misplaced or forgotten, it may be important to have a copy until you can find it again or obtain a temporary travel permit.

Also, by keeping another copy in the custody of a responsible person at home, it will be convenient for your friends to use it in case of emergency. If the passport is lost, it is possible to obtain a temporary travel permit through the Sri Lankan embassies there, but it is important to keep in mind that this should be kept very carefully and protected.

4. Money

In money exchange between countries, money exchange institutions such as banks periodically indicate the selling price when receiving money from a foreign country for this country’s currency. For example, to get 1 American dollar these days, we have to give about one hundred and fifty Sri Lankan rupees. It is cheaper to exchange money through these low-cost agencies, and if you do a preliminary study of the amount of foreign currency you will get and the cost of living in that country relative to the amount you have to spend, you can avoid going bankrupt and destitute in an unfamiliar country.

Also, if you are going abroad for work, if you are careful about the purchase price, you will be able to get more value for your income.

5. Always carry foreign currency

It is wise to keep a few change coins in your pocket even if you go to another country and think that everything is on the card, just like you keep a few change coins when you are in Sri Lanka. Then to make payments when it is not possible to pay by card, as well as to go to the police or the station if you suddenly lose your wallet, to call the police or the embassy, if you don’t have any, you have to carry a handkerchief and sing a song there.

6.Take a map or phone charger.

Whether you’re traveling abroad for a trip or a job, it’s important to know the country’s ports of entry. It’s a good idea to have a map of the country you’re visiting or a city map of the cities you visit a lot. A compass can also be kept if needed. Having said that, it is not surprising that the phone that you can use more easily comes to mind. What maps and compasses are there these days with Google Maps? But no matter how advanced the phone is, the battery that powers it is not advanced, so what are the stories in other countries about the phone that cannot be kept active for a full day even in Sri Lanka? Anyway, if you plan to use the phone, keep a powerbank and get what you need to charge it.

If you are also aware of the voltage levels in that country, you can know with confidence whether your electronic equipment will get the power it needs and the possible damage.

7. Have something to eat

When you go to an environment with an unfamiliar food culture, it will take some time to find a hotel that will satisfy you. So during that time, if you can eat something familiar after a meal that was swallowed unpleasantly, you can get rid of the bad feeling in your mouth. Therefore, don’t forget to take with you something that you like in Sri Lanka, such as murukku, biscuits, pickles, which can be kept for a long time.

If you have already experienced new experiences in a foreign country, there are many things to add to this. Your experience is very important to us and everyone who comes here, so it is a duty to share it.
