If I ever get lost, look for me in… How would you continue the sentence? Do not answer yet, wait to know these two hotels that have fascinated us with their architecture and design. They are unique, located in super special and historical spaces, which have been completely renovated, respecting their essence and endowing them with a style of authentic luxury.
A unique experience for all the senses
The first of them we have very close. This is the located in the center of the capital of the Turia, in a fabulous building of the nineteenth century. Everything about this 4-star hotel is a surprise; the first and most impressive, the total contrast between a rococo exterior and the brand new interiors, decorated by Lorenzo Castillo with exquisite taste and a mixture of styles that is completely atypical and works perfectly.
Each room is a journey and, as the interior designer himself indicates, “this project has been a reflection of my training in the world of art and the history of styles and decorative arts. I wanted to demonstrate this by using different influences in the design of each space.”
Thus, the entrance takes us to the American clubs of the time of prohibition; With a black wooden paneling and inlaid mirrors that culminates at the top with a turquoise tzutzani upholstery, typical of the smoking clubs of the 20s of the last century.
In the piano nobile, from where the different salons follow one another, the inspiration is similar. The large capitoné sofas and the pairs of fireplaces in the main living room make you feel like you’re in a New York restaurant; while the winter room, delicious, brings us closer to the Victorian country houses, with an elaborate wall design that combines mirrors with lattice frames and a geometric Art Deco upholstery, in which green tones prevail.
The dining room is reminiscent of a spa or greenhouse of the nineteenth century, with the golden lights of its lanterns and the green leather that upholsters its furniture. And since we talk about dining room, it is essential to mention the haute cuisine offered by this hotel, with chef Adrián Puchol at the controls, where Mediterranean dishes are prepared with seasonal products. In the evenings of the summer months, what better than relaxing with a cocktail at the Kamikaze Terrace Sky Bar on the rooftop or settling into the Kamikaze Piano Club, where the hotel bar will transport you to a very English atmosphere.
Regarding its 47 rooms, they are a geographical journey of luxury…
Class and history of Milan at your feet
We continue traveling, now to Milan, where we find the 4-star hotel, an imposing building rebuilt on a church of 1934, which was abandoned in 1990. Already desacralized, it was completely rehabilitated by the architecture studio Quattroassociati and today its Latin cross plan of three naves is preserved, as well as its wooden doors and its arches of the material naves. This classic architectural area is currently the entrance area to the hotel and presents a balanced and super elegant style, ‘made in Italy’, but above all, ‘made in Milano’.
Attached to it, we find the 13-storey tower that houses its 175 rooms (in addition to 10 suites located on what were the old corridors of the church), from whose terraces you can see the whole city and which offers a perfect continuum between classical and the most innovative architecture. The whole ensemble is undoubtedly a masterpiece of modern design.
As Michele Reginaldi, the architect responsible for this project, points out, “transforming and enhancing a building of worship, turning it into a meeting place dedicated to hospitality, was a challenge. We have tried to reinterpret the spaces of the hotel, always safeguarding the spatial characteristics of the original building and respecting the decorative ensemble and the most significant architectural elements, in order to establish a principle of continuity and permanence in the historical development of the construction“.
The Italian style is breathed in every detail, both in the rooms, as well as in the six large meeting rooms or the common areas: lamps by Flos and Firmamento Milano, photographs of models from the 50s and 60s…
