Pansies are a lovely choice to add colour to our terraces and balconies. They are low maintenance plants, with a prolonged flowering that delights us for several months, and present a wide range of vibrant colors. However, they have a small drawback – they are also liked by mosquitoes.
2. Lantana
Lantana is a plant with beautiful flowers that unfortunately turn out to be a feast for beetles and a magnet for mosquitoes. To avoid its unwanted presence, it is advisable to locate it away from doors and windows. In addition, it would be advisable to place a mosquito lamp in the vicinity to avoid any discomfort.
3. Solidago
The solidago, or Goldenrod, is a wild plant of great beauty that stands out for its striking appearance. Even when dried, it retains its charm in vases and flower arrangements. However, in addition to its aesthetic appeal, solidago canadensis has the particularity of attracting flies and mosquitoes. Therefore, it is advisable to keep it away from our home to avoid the presence of these unwanted insects.
4. Daisies
Daisy (Bellis perennis) is one of the most charming and easy plants to grow. With its spectacular and long-lasting flowering, it is perfect for brightening terraces, balconies, flowerbeds and even for decorating stairs and porches. However, like the plants mentioned above, the daisy also has the drawback of inevitably attracting flies and mosquitoes.
5. Laurel
The pleasant aroma of laurel is not only attractive to humans, but also to mosquitoes. Unfortunately, despite their multiple benefits, they are also prone to attracting mosquitoes and other insects. To avoid their unwanted presence, it is recommended to keep windows closed if they are near a laurel or directly exposed to it. In addition, placing mosquito nets on windows and using fragrances such as lavender or citronella can counteract the attractive effect of laurel.
